ASUS ROG Phone 8 and 8 Pro Leak Reveals Full Specs and More
A recent leak unveils renders, specs, and accessories for the upcoming ASUS ROG Phone 8 and 8 Pro.
Design Changes and Similarities
The latest leak regarding the ASUS ROG Phone 8 provides new information about the phone's design and features. According to the reports, ASUS may introduce a Pro model as a replacement for the Ultimate model. The renders suggest that there won't be a significant difference in design between the base and Pro models. However, the line that separates the two-tone colors on the back of the phone appears to be lower in the Pro model.
ASUS seems to have taken a slightly more subdued approach to the design of the new ROG phones. Both models maintain the RGB logo, but the Pro model no longer has the Ultimate's back display. Additionally, the camera bump has been redesigned, adopting a more square-ish shape compared to the previous rectangular-like design.
Specifications and Features
The leaked information suggests that both the vanilla and Pro models of the ROG Phone 8 will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and Qualcomm Adreno 750 GPU. They are also expected to feature a 6.78-inch FHD+ Samsung Flexible AMOLED display, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, a 5-magnet speaker system, Wi-Fi 6/6E support, and a 5,500mAh battery. It's worth noting that the battery capacity would be slightly lower compared to the Phone 7's 6,000mAh battery.
The memory, storage, and camera capabilities may differ between the base and Pro models. The base model is rumored to have 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage, while the Pro model is said to offer either 16GB or 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB or 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. In terms of cameras, the Pro model could feature a Sony IMX890 50 MP main sensor, a 13 MP ultrawide lens, a 32MP lens with 3X optical zoom, and a 32MP front camera. However, there is no information available yet about the camera setup of the base model.
Accessories
Despite the toned-down design, ASUS is still offering various accessories for the ROG Phone 8. The leaked images reveal two different cases - a clear case and a solid black case. The black case also includes space for the AeroActive Cooler X accessory, which can also function as a phone stand.
ASUS has announced that it will officially unveil the ROG Phone 8 at CES 2024 and launch the device in China on January 16. However, pricing details for both the ROG Phone 8 and 8 Pro have not been disclosed yet.
