New Showrunner and Focus on Penelope and Colin

The third season of 'Bridgerton' will have a new showrunner, Jess Brownell, taking over from creator Chris Van Dusen. The season will focus on the characters Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton.

The upcoming season will explore the will-they-won't-they romance between Penelope and Colin, as well as Penelope's strained friendship with Eloise, who uncovered Penelope's secret identity as Lady Whistledown in the previous season.

Based on the fourth book in Julia Quinn's bestselling series, 'Romancing Mister Bridgerton', the season will skip over Benedict Bridgerton and instead delve into the story of Penelope and Colin.

Plot Details and Returning Cast

The full logline for the season reveals that Penelope has given up on her crush on Colin and is now determined to find a husband who will allow her to maintain her double life as Lady Whistledown. Colin, on the other hand, returns with a new look and tries to win back Penelope's friendship by offering to mentor her in finding a husband. However, his feelings for her become more complicated as their friendship deepens.

The returning cast for the third season includes Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton, Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington, and Claudia Jessie as Eloise. Other familiar faces such as Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte and Julie Andrews as the voice of Lady Whistledown will also be returning.

The season is executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica, and Chris Van Dusen.

Release Dates and Future Seasons

The third season of 'Bridgerton' will be released in 2024 and will consist of eight episodes. The season will be split into two parts, with the first four episodes releasing on May 16 and the final four episodes on June 13.

The series has already been renewed for a fourth season, and the plan is for each season to focus on a different one of the eight Bridgerton siblings and their journey to find love and marriage.

Fans can expect more scandal, romance, and intrigue as the world of 'Bridgerton' continues to captivate audiences.
