Copley's Season Ends After ACL Surgery

Pheonix Copley of the Los Angeles Kings will not be able to play for the rest of the season due to ACL surgery.

Injury and Placement on Injured Reserve

Copley sustained his ACL injury during a practice session on December 15 and was immediately placed on long-term injured reserve the following day.

His performance this season has been noteworthy, with a record of 4-1-2, a 3.16 goals-against average, .870 save percentage, and one shutout in eight starts.

Previous Contributions and NHL Career

Last season, Copley played a vital role in helping the Los Angeles Kings qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. He achieved a remarkable record of 24-6-3, with a 2.64 GAA, .903 save percentage, and one shutout in 37 games.

Throughout his NHL career, spanning 76 games and playing for the St. Louis Blues, Washington Capitals, and Kings, Copley has demonstrated his abilities with a combined record of 44-16-8, a 2.83 GAA, .899 save percentage, and three shutouts.

Current Backup Goalie

Following Copley's injury, David Rittich has taken over as the backup goaltender for the Kings.

Cam Talbot has been the primary goaltender, boasting impressive stats with a 14-8-3 record, a 2.10 GAA, .925 save percentage, and two shutouts in 25 games. Talbot has also been selected for the 2024 NHL All-Star Game.

The Kings, currently placed third in the Pacific Division, have excelled defensively this season, allowing the fewest goals per game with an average of only 2.37.
