Delta Increases Annual Fees for American Express Credit Cards and Adds Perks

Delta Air Lines is making changes to its credit cards, including higher fees and new benefits for cardholders.

New Benefits

Delta is expanding the Companion Certificate for Delta Reserve and Delta Platinum cardholders. The certificate now includes Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America.

Medallion Qualification Dollars will be given to Delta Platinum, Delta Platinum Business, Delta Reserve, and Delta Reserve Business cardholders at the beginning of each qualifying year. These dollars can be earned through daily spending on these cards.

Certain cards will offer new bonuses while earning rates remain the same.

New Rewards and Statement Credits

Delta Gold Business cardholders will earn 2 miles per dollar on U.S. shipping, up to $50,000 in eligible purchases annually.

Delta SkyMiles Platinum Business American Express cardholders will earn 1.5 miles per dollar on transit and U.S. shipping purchases.

Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business American Express cardholders will earn 1.5 miles per dollar on transit, U.S. shipping, and U.S. office supply stores spending.

Delta will offer various flight credits, stays credits, rideshare credits, and Resy credits to cardmembers. These credits can be used for savings on dining, travel, and lodging during trips.

Rising Fees and Sign-Up Bonuses

Delta will increase the annual fees for its six credit cards, ranging from $550 to $650 for Delta Reserve and Delta Reserve Business cards, $250 to $350 for Delta Platinum and Delta Platinum Business cards, and $99 to $150 for Delta Gold and Delta Gold Business cards.

For those applying for an American Express/Delta SkyMiles card, they will receive increased sign-up bonus miles offers when they spend a specific amount within a certain time frame.

The fee increases will go into effect for accounts opened before Thursday at the next renewal date on or after May 1.
