Scary Moment During Game

During a game between the Carolina Hurricanes and the New Jersey Devils, Devils head coach Lindy Ruff was hit in the head by a puck.

The incident occurred in the second period, and Ruff was unable to continue coaching in the third period.

With about six-and-a-half minutes remaining in the second period, a puck that was being cleared out of the Hurricanes' zone ended up heading straight towards the bench where Ruff was sitting.

Coach's Condition after the Injury

According to reports, Ruff was hit on the side of the head by the puck. Trainers attended to him on the bench, and he appeared to be unsteady.

Devils associate coach Travis Green provided an update on Ruff's condition after the game, stating that he was feeling better but still not quite right.

Although it's always concerning to see an accident like this happen, Green mentioned that incidents like this are rare but do occur in the sport.

Precautions Taken After the Incident

In light of the injury, the Devils announced that Ruff would not be participating in the team's practice the following day as a precautionary measure.

This decision was made to ensure Ruff's well-being and allow him time to fully recuperate.

It is crucial for coaches and players to prioritize their safety since benches lack the protective glass boards found around the stands.
