Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki Bucks Expectations

Shah Rukh Khan’s latest film, Dunki, has not performed as well as expected at the box office. Despite being directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film has fallen short of predictions.

However, Dunki has still managed to surpass the 150 crore mark at the box office and is aiming to reach 200 crores before the end of the year. This may be challenging, especially with the New Year festivities taking place.

Although Dunki may not reach the heights of the highest-grossing last films of the year, it still has a chance to attract families looking for a year-end theater outing.

Shah Rukh Khan's Previous Last Films of the Year

Shah Rukh Khan has closed the year for Bollywood three times in the past. In 2015, he ended the year with Dilwale, and in 2011, he closed the year with Don 2. Dunki has already surpassed the lifetime collections of both of these films.

The highest-grossing last film of the year was Aamir Khan’s Dangal, which earned 387.39 crore in India. In comparison, Dunki falls short at around 152% less.

On the other hand, the lowest-grossing last film of the year was Ranveer Singh’s Cirkus, which only collected 20.85 crore at the box office.

Dunki's Prospects for the Rest of the Year

With four more days left in the year, it remains to be seen whether Dunki can cross the 200 crore mark. This would require consistent daily earnings of over 13 crores till December 31.

In the past decade, several actors have closed the year with their films, including Ranveer Singh, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, and Akshay Kumar. Shah Rukh Khan is hoping that Dunki can make a mark among these films and end the year on a high note.
