Controversial Translation Error
The Dutch translation of Omid Scobie's book Endgame, which was released recently, is being temporarily pulled from shelves. The book chronicles the breakdown of the royal family and the weakening of the monarchy.
The issue with the Dutch translation is that it names the family members involved in a conversation about the skin color of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's child before he was born. However, the original English version of the book does not name these family members.
It is unclear whether the translation error was a result of incorrect translation or was based on an earlier draft of the book.
Author Clarifies
In an exclusive statement to People magazine, Omid Scobie, the author of Endgame, explains that he can only comment on the English version that he wrote and edited. He confirms that the English version does not name the two individuals involved in the conversation.
Scobie expresses his relief that the error in the Dutch translation is being fixed. He acknowledges that he is not responsible for the translation process.
Publisher's Response
The Dutch publishers of Endgame have called the inclusion of the family members' names in the Dutch translation an 'error.' They have temporarily removed the book from sale and plan to release a rectified edition on December 8.
Buckingham Palace has refrained from commenting on this issue so far.
