The Cast Reacts to Joining the MCU

After waiting patiently for what seemed like an eternity, Marvel Studios finally announced the cast of the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot yesterday. As many rumors had already claimed, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn will star as Marvel’s first family, and the stars have now taken to social media to break their silence over joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Beginning with Pedro Pascal, who will star as the gray-templed, super-stretchy Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic in The Fantastic Four, the beloved actor shared the first artwork of the cast alongside the caption “From our family to yours #TheFantasticFour, in theaters July 25, 2025 #AllYouNeedIsLove.”

Next up is Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning star Vanessa Kirby, who will star in The Fantastic Four as Sue Storm, aka The Invisible Woman. Much like Pascal, Kirby also alluded to family saying “Happy Valentine’s Day everybody. From our family to yours. Very honoured to take on Sue Storm, Marvel’s OG lady since 1961. I hope to do her justice.”

Ebon Moss-Bachrach, meanwhile, who has been receiving all manner of critical acclaim and award attention thanks to his performance in the FX series The Bear, will star as Ben Grimm, aka The Thing. The actor, who has been a part of the Marvel universe before, starring as Micro in the Netflix series The Punisher, said alongside the artwork, “From our family to yours: HAPPY VALENTINE’S!!!”

Last, but by no means least, Stranger Things breakout star Joseph Quinn will portray Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch in The Fantastic Four. And, in true Johnny Storm style, kept his response short and sweet.

Mixed Fan Reactions to Casting

Marvel fans have been waiting some time for the official Fantastic Four casting announcement, and the reactions have come thick and fast. While many seem very on board with both Vanessa Kirby and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Sue Storm and Ben Grimm, respectively, reactions have been somewhat mixed over the casting of Pedro Pascal and Joseph Quinn.

Of course, not everyone feels this way, with many fans leaping in defense of the casting. Particularly with Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm...

Details About the Fantastic Four Reboot

The Fantastic Four is all set to be helmed by WandaVision’s Matt Shakman, with a script from Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, Josh Friedman and Cameron Squires. Plot details for The Fantastic Four reboot are currently unknown, but clues in the first official image seemingly reveal that the story will take place in the 1960s. Many have since suggested that the team will find themselves lost in time somehow come the end of the movie, before re-emerging in the present day MCU.

The Fantastic Four is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 25, 2025, as part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The introduction of Marvel’s first family comes alongside the Blade reboot (November 7, 2025), the team-up movie Thunderbolts (May 5, 2025), and the Avengers sequels Avengers 5 (May 1, 2026), and Avengers: Secret Wars (May 7, 2027).
