Fantilli to Miss 8 Weeks for Blue Jackets with Calf Laceration
Adam Fantilli, the No. 3 pick of the 2023 NHL Draft, is expected to be out for eight weeks for the Columbus Blue Jackets due to a calf laceration.
Injury Details
During the second period of Columbus' 4-2 loss to the Seattle Kraken on Sunday, Adam Fantilli suffered a calf laceration.
He was struck by the skate blade of Kraken forward Jared McCann, resulting in the injury.
Fantilli had to exit the game and was seen hopping off the ice to avoid putting any pressure on his left leg.
Impressive Performance
Despite his injury, Fantilli has showcased his talent as a rookie in the NHL.
He currently ranks fourth among NHL rookies with 27 points, contributing 12 goals and 15 assists in 49 games.
As the No. 3 pick of the 2023 NHL Draft, Fantilli has proven himself to be a valuable asset to the Blue Jackets.
Other Absences
In addition to Fantilli's absence, the Blue Jackets are also missing forward Patrik Laine.
Laine has been in the NHL/NHL Players' Association Player Assistance Program since December 14 due to a broken clavicle.
He has accumulated nine points, including six goals and three assists, in 18 games this season.
Upcoming Game
The Blue Jackets have a break until February 10, when they will face the Tampa Bay Lightning.
During this time, they will need to regroup and adjust to the absence of Fantilli and Laine.
It will be a challenging game for the Blue Jackets as they strive to overcome these key injuries.
