Valentino's Haute Couture Collection

Pierpaolo Piccioli staged a presentation for Valentino during this week’s Paris haute couture Spring Summer 2024 shows that reiterates the importance, grandeur and amazement of the handmade. The show was attended by house ambassador Florence Pugh, Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Jenner, and Kylie's daughter Stormi. The presentation showcased the work of Valentino's seamstresses, who were applauded for their precious and indispensable work. The collection titled 'Le Salon' featured capes of three-dimensional flowers and jewels, as well as endless gold ribbons that defied gravity.

Exotic skins, fur, and feathers were replicated through fabrics and techniques, creating an invented nature. The designer, Piccioli, believes that luxury in high fashion is not simply exotic materials, but rather the amount of work and craftsmanship that goes into reproducing those materials by hand. He takes pride in producing everything in Valentino's ateliers in Rome, which leads to unparalleled quality and harmony in the workshops.

The Environment of Haute Couture

Haute couture is a space of expectation and wonder, where dreams become reality through its own rituals. For Piccioli, the collection 'Le Salon' represents an obsessive search for perfection, associated with a passion for manual labor and a fascination with the process. The collection showcased meticulously embroidered dresses, feathered bodices, tailored blazers and coats, voluminous dresses, and sculptural garments that define the body.

The show's soundtrack featured famous opera arias, adding to the majestic atmosphere. Special guests at Valentino's Paris haute couture show included Samara Weaving, Emerald Fennell, Nadia Lee Cohen, Leonie Hanne, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, composer Alexandre Desplat, artist/photographer Nadia Lee Cohen, and three generations of Jenners.

The Legacy of Valentino

Valentino's legacy is rooted in its dedication to handmade craftsmanship and the pursuit of perfection. The brand's ateliers in Rome are the hub of its production, ensuring unparalleled quality. The collection showcased at the Paris haute couture show exemplified this dedication, with stunning designs and meticulous attention to detail.

By promoting and defending the slow but profound work of handcrafted fashion, Valentino continues to raise the bar on research, aesthetics, and innovation in the industry. 'Le Salon' is a testament to the brand's commitment to producing luxury through intricate craftsmanship and the art of human ingenuity.
