Collision Involving Tesla Cybertruck

A Tesla Cybertruck was involved in its first reported collision near Palo Alto, California, according to law enforcement and photos from the scene. The accident occurred on Skyline Boulevard just after 2pm on Thursday.

The collision occurred when a Toyota Corolla traveling southbound left the road, hit a dirt embankment, and veered back onto the road, crossing double yellow lines and colliding with the oncoming Cybertruck. The front end of the Toyota sustained severe damage.

Fortunately, the 17-year-old driver of the Toyota walked away unharmed. The Cybertruck driver sustained minor injuries and declined medical assistance.

Details of the Crash

According to a preliminary crash report, the Cybertruck was not operating in self-driving mode at the time of the collision. Dashcam footage posted on YouTube showed the damaged Toyota facing frontwards towards the road, while the Cybertruck was a few meters away on the opposite side.

This incident comes after the first deliveries of the Cybertruck to customers last month. With its stainless steel body and smash-proof windows, the Cybertruck has drawn attention for its unique design and safety features. However, safety experts have expressed concerns about the potential danger the truck's angular design and steel exterior pose to other vehicles and pedestrians.

Tesla's Response

In response to safety concerns, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has expressed confidence in the safety of the Cybertruck. He stated that the vehicle will be much safer per mile than other trucks, both for occupants and pedestrians.

Tesla has not issued a formal statement regarding the reported collision. However, this incident will likely prompt further discussion and evaluation of the Cybertruck's safety features and impact on the road.
