Introducing the Trident LS-1: A Revolutionary Car-Boat Vehicle

Poseidon AmphibWorks, based in San Diego and Miami, is set to transform the car-boat vehicle industry. CEO and founder Steve Tice aims to create a vehicle that will provide a seamless experience for daily commuters. Working alongside amphibious vehicles expert Andy Langesfeld, Tice has been developing the Trident LS-1 since 2021. Unlike most amphibious vehicles, the Trident LS-1 is designed to minimize the bumpy ride experienced over water and ensure a smoother journey.

The Trident LS-1 is the world's first hydrofoil electric car-boat, specifically designed to eliminate seasickness caused by erratic motion on water. With hydrofoils, which are vanes or blades, the vehicle's body is elevated, reducing drag by 60% and allowing for steadier turns. According to Tice, the innovative design of the Trident LS-1 will enable individuals who previously experienced motion sickness in small boats to enjoy a comfortable and natural ride, akin to flying over the water.

A Versatile and Efficient Three-Wheel Vehicle

The Trident LS-1, set to begin prototype production later this year, is an electric three-wheel vehicle capable of reaching speeds of up to 95 mph on land. It is designed to seamlessly transition from land to water, driving directly onto the water using a launching ramp. Ideal for those who live near water, the Trident LS-1 offers a multi-modal transportation solution for both daily commutes and leisure activities such as fishing trips.

Featuring three permanent seats, including a center driver seat and two rear seats, as well as an additional fold-down center seat, the Trident LS-1 provides ample space for passengers. With a length of 7 feet, the vehicle can be easily parked in a garage, eliminating the need for a separate tow vehicle. The Trident LS-1 prioritizes safety and is equipped with airbags, a tubular aluminum roll cage, and multiple cameras.

A New Era of Car-Boats

The Trident LS-1 promises a unique experience, combining the thrill of flying with the convenience of a car-boat. Equipped with hydrofoils, the vehicle allows riders to glide above the water at a height of approximately 3 feet, avoiding the ripples caused by small waves. The hydrofoils can be retracted when driving on land to prevent damage from road objects like rocks. Users have control over the deployment of the vanes, depending on the water's depth, and the vehicle offers excellent maneuverability with thrusters for precise movements.

Priced at $100,000, with an additional approximately $30,000 for dealer service and local support, the Trident LS-1 offers a range of benefits to various markets. It caters to coastal residents, those living near waterway rivers or on islands, RV owners looking to eliminate the need for towing a separate vehicle, and yacht owners who want to avoid steering their boats to shore for everyday errands. With a focus on versatility and practicality, Poseidon AmphibWorks also sees potential for commercial taxi and delivery services, as well as military applications.

Prototyping and Availability

Currently finalizing the plan for the prototype, Poseidon AmphibWorks aims to complete production by the end of the year. By December 2024, a prototype of the Trident LS-1 will be in the water in San Diego, and the company plans to start accepting deposits for the vehicle. Sales to California customers will begin around December 2025, with a San Diego location for service support. Non-California customers can also arrange to pick up a Trident LS-1 in California during that time, and the company plans to offer shipping to out-of-state customers by June 2025.

The Trident LS-1 represents a new era of car-boats, providing a unique and enjoyable experience for water-based transportation. While not the first car-boat, Poseidon AmphibWorks' hydrofoil electric vehicle sets itself apart with its innovative design and focus on comfort, versatility, and practicality.
