The Lawsuit Against Jimmy Kimmel

Former Congressman George Santos has launched a lawsuit against late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, claiming fraud in relation to the use of Santos' Cameo videos. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, includes allegations of fraud, breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and copyright infringement. Additionally, ABC and Disney are named as defendants in the suit.

According to the complaint, Kimmel used fake names and created false narratives to request video messages from Santos through the Cameo platform. These requests were made through fake user profiles created by Kimmel, with the intention of capitalizing on and mocking Santos' outgoing personality. The lawsuit alleges that Kimmel falsely represented himself as various users when making the requests, a violation of Cameo's terms of service and Santos' copyright rights. Santos is seeking damages of at least $750,000.

Kimmel's Response and Previous Remarks

Representatives for ABC, Disney, and Kimmel have not yet provided a response to the allegations. However, the lawsuit highlights an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live where Kimmel joked about being sued by Santos for fraud. Kimmel stated that if he were sued, it would be like a dream come true and that Santos should be grateful for the increased rates he received for his videos.

In December, Santos faced expulsion from the House of Representatives following an Ethics Committee investigation and criminal charges of wire fraud, money laundering, and lying to Congress. Shortly after these events, Santos began his Cameo video-making career, reportedly earning a significant income from it.
