Hunter Biden Will Testify Publicly

Hunter Biden has agreed to testify before the House Oversight Committee in a public hearing. His attorney, Abbe Lowell, wrote a letter to Republican lawmakers stating that Biden will appear on December 13 or any date in December that can be arranged.

The committee had issued a subpoena for Biden's deposition earlier this month. Lowell accused Chairman James Comer of selectively leaking information from closed-door depositions and proposed opening the door to a public hearing.

Lowell criticized the ongoing impeachment inquiry and called it an 'empty investigation' that has wasted resources. He urged Comer to bring it to an end.

Subpoenas Issued for Biden Family Members

Chairman James Comer of the House Oversight Committee announced subpoenas on November 8 targeting members of President Biden's family, including Hunter Biden and his brother, James Biden. They were also joined by former Hunter Biden business associate Rob Walker.

Comer stated that the committee has gathered evidence revealing how Joe Biden knew about and benefited from his family's influence peddling schemes. The subpoenas were part of the committee's efforts to question the Biden family and their associates.

At the time, Abbe Lowell called the subpoenas a 'political stunt' but emphasized Hunter Biden's willingness to discuss matters with the committee in a public forum and at the right time.

Criticism of the Impeachment Inquiry

Chairman Comer's impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden has faced criticism, even from some Republicans. They argue that the nearly yearlong investigation has failed to produce sufficient evidence for impeachment.

In response, the White House issued a memo accusing House Republicans of abusing their power and conducting a smear campaign against the president and his family. They claimed that the allegations lacked evidence and were baseless.

The impeachment inquiry continues amid ongoing debates and disagreements over its legitimacy and effectiveness.
