Intel Unveils New AI Chip to Compete with Nvidia and AMD
Intel has announced the launch of its new computer chips, including Gaudi3, an AI chip for generative AI software. The chip will compete with rival chips from Nvidia and AMD, aiming to attract AI companies away from Nvidia's dominant position in the market.
Intel Unveils Gaudi3 AI Chip
Intel has revealed its latest computer chip, Gaudi3, which is designed for generative AI software. The chip is set to launch next year and will directly compete with Nvidia and AMD chips that power large-scale AI models. This move is an effort by Intel to challenge Nvidia's dominant position in the AI market.
Gaudi3: A Competitor to Nvidia's H100 and AMD's MI300X
While Intel did not provide many details about the Gaudi3 chip, it is expected to rival Nvidia's H100 chip, which is widely used by companies to power AI applications. AMD's forthcoming MI300X chip is also seen as a competitor when it becomes available in 2024. Intel's Gaudi3 chip is the result of their acquisition of chip developer Habana Labs in 2019.
Intel Announces Core Ultra and Xeon Chips
Intel also made announcements regarding its Core Ultra chips and fifth-generation Xeon server chips. Both of these chips include specialized AI parts called NPUs that enhance the performance of AI programs. Intel's Core Ultra chips are designed for Windows laptops and PCs, while their Xeon processors power servers used by large organizations, often in conjunction with Nvidia GPUs for AI deployment.
