Apple’s iOS 17.2 update is coming any minute now—the new iPhone software could arrive as soon as next week.

iOS 17.2 Contact Key Verification

One of the best new features coming in iOS 17.2 is Contact Key Verification in iMessage. Intended to help deal with the increasing problem of spyware, the new iPhone security feature prevents attackers from listening to or reading your conversations in iMessage if they’ve managed to breach cloud servers.

After you’ve upgraded to iOS 17.2 and enabled Contact Key Verification, you’ll receive a notification to alert you if someone can spy on your conversations. You can also use a Contact Verification Code to confirm who you are speaking to is who they say, on FaceTime or in person. Pretty cool, huh?

One of the best things about Contact Key Verification in iOS 17.2 is it’s really accessible. Unlike Lockdown Mode, which makes your iPhone pretty much unusable, Contact Key Verification doesn’t impact functionality.

You can access Contact Key Verification in iOS 17.2 by going to Settings > Your Name > Contact Key Verification and toggling to 'on'.

iOS 17.2 Bug Fixes And Security Features

A few people have reported bugs since upgrading to iOS 17 and while it’s unfortunately a side-effect of new iPhone software, these issues can be annoying. Fingers crossed that Apple has included some bug fixes in iOS 17.2; hopefully anyone still having Wi-Fi issues will find the problem is sorted.

Meanwhile, iOS 17.2 should come with some iPhone security updates, which I’ll be sure to detail in a new article as soon as the new software is launched.

iOS 17.2’s Journal App

On top of all this, iOS 17.2 also includes the hotly-anticipated Journal app, which allows you to journal while keeping your private iPhone data secure. The Journal app can be locked using Face ID or Touch ID, while iCloud Sync ensures your journal entries are encrypted and can’t be read by prying eyes.

So there you have it—iOS 17.2 is coming soon—possibly in a matter of days. Which day Apple will launch iOS 17.2 is anyone’s guess, but I’d put money on it arriving on Tuesday. Keep checking in your iPhone Settings and follow my Forbes page to ensure you don’t miss out on the new iPhone updates as they arrive.
