Jon Stewart returned to Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show' on Monday night to a standing ovation from fans in the studio. A source at Stewart’s first taping since resigning in 2015 tells us there was 'incredible energy in the room,' and that he was given 'multiple standing ovations.' Stewart came out before the taping to Bruce Springsteen's 'Born to Run,' a tradition from his previous tenure on the show. The source reveals, 'They had a playlist of music, songs, and artists that Jon loves.'

Stewart Takes the Anchor's Seat

Stewart is now serving as an executive producer of 'The Daily Show' and will be hosting on Monday nights until the 2024 presidential election in November. The rest of the week will be led by a rotating news team consisting of Jordan Klepper, Ronny Chieng, Desi Lydic, Michael Kosta, and Dulce Sloan.

During the show, Stewart humorously commented on his return, saying, 'Why am I back? I have committed a lot of crimes. From what I understand, talk show hosts are granted immunity — it doesn’t make a lot of sense, but take it up with the founders.'
