Game Shutting Down

Kim Kardashian has chosen to close her mobile game after almost ten years of generating significant sales. The 'Kim Kardashian: Hollywood' game will cease to function for current players on April 8. In-app purchases have already been discontinued and the game has been removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Launched in June 2014, the free-to-play game allowed fans to create avatars and strive for A-list celebrity status. The app quickly became a hit, generating $700,000 per day through the sale of virtual clothes and accessories shortly after its release.

Glu Mobile, the developer of the game, revealed that the app was downloaded over 145 million times and earned $160 million in revenue within its first two years alone.

Moving On

Now a billionaire, thanks to her successful Skims shapewear empire, Kim Kardashian stated that she will always be inspired by the app but feels that it is time to focus on other passions. In a statement, Kardashian expressed her gratitude to everyone who has played and loved 'Kim Kardashian: Hollywood' over the past ten years.

Kardashian thanked the Glu team and the individuals who have worked behind the scenes to make the game a success. Glu Mobile has also developed games for other celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Gordon Ramsay, and members of the Kardashian family.

In 2021, Glu Mobile was acquired by Electronics Arts for $2 billion.
