Late Equaliser Rescues Everton

Jarrad Branthwaite scored a 94th minute equaliser as relegation-threatened Everton rescued a point against Tottenham with a 2-2 draw on Saturday. The goal secured a crucial point for Everton as they moved out of the bottom three in the Premier League table.

Richarlison, once the darling of Goodison Park, scored two goals in the first half and looked to have won the game for the visitors. However, Branthwaite's goal came at the back post after Everton had troubled Spurs throughout the game with their set-pieces.

Everton's Fighting Spirit

Jack Harrison also scored for Everton, and their strong performance in the second half gave them hope of taking something from the match. Despite being fourth in the table with 44 points from 23 games, Tottenham missed the opportunity to level with second-placed Manchester City.

"I'm pretty disappointed, particularly conceding so late," said Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou. "We knew they would throw a lot of balls into the box and we would have to deal with a lot of things. It seemed like the refereeing was just going to let everything go and let the VAR pick up the scraps and for us nothing happened in that sense."

Everton Fans Protest

Everton fans protested against the Premier League during the match. They held up yellow placards with the message 'You don't know what you're doing' in reference to the club's 10-point deduction for an alleged breach of profit and sustainability rules.

Everton's appeal against the penalty was held this week, and a verdict is expected in mid-February.
