Lewis Capaldi Shares Health Update, Extends Touring Hiatus in 2024
Singer Lewis Capaldi provides an update on his health and announces the extension of his touring hiatus into 2024, due to anxiety and Tourette's syndrome.
Positive Health Update and New Music
Lewis Capaldi, the Grammy-nominated singer, has shared a health update with his fans after taking a break from touring for six months. In a social media post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Capaldi expressed his significant health improvements and his excitement for new music in 2024.
Capaldi has been working closely with professionals to learn more about and manage his Tourette's syndrome and anxiety issues. Since taking time off back in June, he has seen a marked improvement in both areas.
In addition to the health update, Capaldi thanked his fans for their overwhelming support and the response to his second album, Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent. He announced that a new edition of the record, featuring five additional songs, will be released at midnight on Jan. 1.
Continuing the Hiatus
While Capaldi is pleased with his progress, he clarified that his touring hiatus will continue into 2024. He plans to focus on taking care of himself, possibly writing new music, and reflecting on the incredible years of his life.
Capaldi stressed that he wants to ensure he is fully recovered before returning to performing and doing what he loves. He has been open about his struggles with anxiety, imposter syndrome, and Tourette's syndrome, which made it difficult for him to finish a performance at the 2023 Glastonbury Festival.
Despite the extended hiatus, Capaldi expressed his gratitude to his fans for their ongoing support and understanding.
Background on Capaldi's Health Struggles
Lewis Capaldi has been candid about his various health struggles, including anxiety, imposter syndrome, and Tourette's syndrome. Tourette's syndrome causes involuntary body movements and vocal outbursts, which can impact his performances.
During the emotional set at the 2023 Glastonbury Festival, Capaldi had to rely on fans to finish singing his hit song 'Someone You Loved' when he couldn't continue. This experience further emphasized the need for him to prioritize his mental and physical health.
Capaldi's extended edition of Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent will be available at midnight on New Year's Day.
