More Than 70 Players Representing 23 Different Countries Will Tee It Up at Abu Dhabi Golf Club
LIV Golf has announced the field for the first ever LIV Golf Promotions at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. The tournament, which will take place from December 8 to 10, will feature more than 70 rising stars and accomplished professionals from around the world. Among the participants are a Major Champion, former Ryder Cup and Walker Cup players, and winners on prominent professional golf tours.
The competition will be a crucial event on the global golf calendar as players vie for the opportunity to earn one of the three coveted spots in the 2024 LIV Golf League. The league is slated to kick off in Mexico on February 2, 2024, with LIV Golf Mayakoba.
The open exemption criteria provided accomplished players from various countries with the chance to enter LIV Golf Promotions and potentially secure a spot in the prestigious LIV Golf League. This new event and the interest it has generated reinforce the significant opportunities that LIV Golf is creating for the sport.
Exciting Format and Talented Field to Compete for LIV Golf League Spots
The LIV Golf Promotions tournament will follow an exciting format over the course of three days and four rounds. Nearly 60 players will compete on day one, with the top 20 advancing to round two alongside a group of players who automatically qualified for day two.
After round two, the top 20 players will move on to the final day of competition, which will involve a 36-hole shootout. At the conclusion of the tournament, the top three finishers will earn coveted spots in the 2024 LIV Golf League, allowing them to compete in all 14 events on the league's global schedule.
Additionally, players finishing fourth to tenth place will receive full exemption for all 2024 events on The International Series sanctioned by the Asian Tour. With a field that includes next-generation talent and experienced professionals, the competition is set to be highly competitive and captivating.
Field Highlights Rising Stars and Accomplished Pros
The field for LIV Golf Promotions features a mix of rising stars and accomplished professionals. The average age of the players is 31, with 38 participants under the age of 30. Some of the notable players include the Irish duo of Max Kennedy and Ryan Griffin, renowned for their success in the Palmer Cup.
Sampson-Yunhe Zheng from China, the highest-ranked amateur in the field and runner-up in the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, is also set to compete. Additionally, the tournament will feature players like 2013 PGA Championship winner Jason Dufner, former Ryder Cup stars Victor Dubuisson and Jeff Overton, and winners on various professional tours.
Former LIV Golf players Sihwan Kim, Chase Koepka, Jed Morgan, James Piot, and reserve Laurie Canter will also be looking to reclaim their LIV Golf status at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club. The tournament promises to showcase the talent and potential of these players, as they compete for the opportunity to be part of the game-changing LIV Golf League.
