LIV Golf pro Harold Varner III was arrested in North Carolina on Thursday night for allegedly driving while impaired, according to online jail records. Varner, who announced in August 2022 that he would be leaving the PGA Tour for the rival Saudi-backed golf circuit, was arrested by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department at around 7:30 p.m.

Harold Varner III, a professional golfer from LIV Golf, was arrested in North Carolina for suspicion of driving while impaired, as reported by online jail records. Varner, who had previously announced his departure from the PGA Tour to join the Saudi-backed golf circuit, was apprehended by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department in the evening on Thursday.

The arrest took place at approximately 7:30 p.m. Varner's bond was set at $500, and he was charged with driving while impaired. According to records from the Mecklenburg District Court, Varner underwent a breath test which yielded a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of .16.

After the arrest, Varner was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 19. The outcome of the court proceedings will determine any potential consequences Varner may face as a result of the driving while impaired charges.
