Louis Vuitton Announces Debut Of New Frank Gehry Handbags At Art Basel Miami
Louis Vuitton will showcase a limited-edition collection of handbags by architect Frank Gehry at Art Basel Miami Beach.
Unique Handbag Collection by Frank Gehry
Louis Vuitton has announced its collaboration with architect Frank Gehry to present a selection of limited-edition handbags at Art Basel Miami Beach. The collection explores three themes: Architecture and Form, Material Exploration, and Animals. It will also feature Gehry's iconic Twisted Box Trunk creation from 'Celebrating Monogram' and a stunning Bear With Us Clutch inspired by his sculpture.
In addition to the handbags, the booth will showcase trunks, perfume bottles, original artworks, preparatory sketches, and architectural models. The collection aims to highlight Gehry's design prowess across various art forms.
Fusion of Gehry's Design and Louis Vuitton Craftsmanship
Each handbag in this collaboration represents a fusion of Frank Gehry's dedication to design and Louis Vuitton's expertise in craftsmanship. For example, the Capucines Mini Blossom features glass-like resin petals inspired by perfume bottles, while the Capucines MM Floating Fish showcases meticulously crafted leather marquetry. The Capucines MM Concrete Pockets, on the other hand, exhibits a 3D cement-effect screen-print that mimics Gehry's architectural textures.
These handbags exemplify the unique combination of Gehry's innovative design approach and Louis Vuitton's attention to detail, resulting in striking and luxurious carry-alls that capture Gehry's essence.
Booth Design and Exhibition Details
The specially designed booth for the exhibition reflects Gehry's constant push for experimentation with forms. It integrates wood and cardboard models, reminiscent of his design process. Sail-like mesh structures in the booth pay homage to Gehry's previous window displays for the fashion house.
Louis Vuitton's Art Basel Miami Beach booth will be open to the public from December 8 to December 10. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the handbag collection and experience Gehry's innovative design concepts first-hand.
