Lockyer's Condition

Tom Lockyer, captain of Luton Town, is in stable condition and receiving treatment in hospital after experiencing a cardiac arrest during a match against Bournemouth. Lockyer collapsed on the pitch in the 59th minute of the game and had to be attended to by medical staff before being taken off on a stretcher.

Referee Simon Hooper led both teams off the pitch, and the game was later abandoned. Luton Town later confirmed that Lockyer had suffered a cardiac arrest but was responsive when he was taken off the field. He received further treatment inside the stadium before being transferred to the hospital.

Lockyer's family is with him, and the club has expressed their gratitude to Bournemouth and the medical staff for their quick response. They also thanked the supporters for their applause and support during this difficult time.

Lockyer's Previous Emergency

This is not the first time Lockyer has experienced a medical emergency on the pitch. In May, during the Championship play-off at Wembley Stadium, he suffered a similar incident and had to be taken off on a stretcher. Lockyer was immediately taken to the hospital and later confirmed to be responsive. He underwent a successful operation and was cleared to train with his team-mates during pre-season.

Lockyer has been a key player for Luton Town, starting in 15 out of their 17 Premier League matches this season. He has made a total of 117 appearances for the club and played a crucial role in their promotion to the Premier League last season.

Lockyer's Career

Tom Lockyer was born in Cardiff and is a full international player for Wales. He began his career at Bristol Rovers, making his first-team debut in 2012. Lockyer spent seven years at Bristol Rovers, accumulating 285 appearances before joining Charlton Athletic.

After a season with Charlton, Lockyer joined Luton Town in 2020. He has since made 117 appearances for the club and was instrumental in their promotion to the Premier League. Lockyer suffered a cardiac arrest during the game against Bournemouth, but is now stable and undergoing further assessments.
