Jonathan Majors Cut from Marvel Cinematic Universe

Leading actor Jonathan Majors has been dropped by Marvel Studios and Disney following his recent guilty assault verdict. Majors, known for his role as Kang the Conqueror in the Loki series, was slated to continue his character in an Avengers movie set for 2026.

Majors' career has taken a sharp decline since his arrest in March, after a heated dispute with Jabbari. He was found guilty on two of the four charges brought against him by New York prosecutors: third degree assault and second degree aggravated assault.

Details from the Trial

During the trial, Jabbari testified that the conflict turned physical when she discovered romantic texts on Majors' phone. Majors allegedly twisted her arm, causing her pain, and struck her in the head. Surveillance footage presented in court showed Majors fleeing the scene on foot as Jabbari pursued him.

The former couple met in 2021 while working on Marvel's Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The film, which was meant to lead to future projects involving Majors, had not yet started filming at the time of his conviction.

Uncertain Future for Kang the Conqueror

It remains unclear whether the character of Kang will be recast or if Marvel will abandon future projects based on the character. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, set to release in 2026, is still in the script phase and has not begun filming.

Marvel has yet to comment on their relationship with Majors. The actor had previously gained recognition for his roles in films like The Last Black Man in San Francisco and Lovecraft Country.

Ongoing Repercussions for Majors

The fallout from the assault verdict extends beyond Marvel and Disney. Majors' public relations firm and management team have both dropped him. He is set to be sentenced in February and could face up to a year in prison for the assault charge.

Additionally, Majors' film Magazine Dreams, which had received critical acclaim, has been pulled from its release schedule by Disney-owned distributor Searchlight Pictures
