Microsoft Azure provides Mistral AI with access to cutting-edge AI infrastructure, allowing them to accelerate the development and deployment of their next-generation large language models (LLMs). This partnership also opens up new commercial opportunities and enables Mistral AI to expand to global markets while fostering ongoing research collaboration.
Three Core Areas of Focus
Microsoft's partnership with Mistral AI revolves around three core areas. Firstly, Microsoft will support Mistral AI with Azure AI supercomputing infrastructure, offering best-in-class performance and scale for AI training and inference workloads. This will benefit Mistral AI's flagship models.
Secondly, Mistral AI's premium models will be made available to customers through the Models as a Service (MaaS) in the Azure AI Studio and Azure Machine Learning model catalog. Customers can purchase Mistral AI's models using the Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment (MACC). Azure's infrastructure and capabilities provide Mistral AI with additional opportunities to promote and distribute their models worldwide.
Finally, Microsoft and Mistral AI will explore collaboration in training purpose-specific models for select customers, including European public sector workloads. This research and development collaboration aims to further advance AI innovation and address specific industry needs.
Introducing Mistral Large on Azure
Mistral AI's flagship commercial model, Mistral Large, is now available first on Azure AI and the Mistral AI platform. Mistral Large is a versatile language model that excels in text-based use cases. It offers state-of-the-art reasoning and knowledge capabilities, capable of processing multiple documents in a single call. Additionally, it supports multiple languages, including French, German, Spanish, Italian, and English.
By integrating Mistral Large into the Models as a Service (MaaS) within Azure AI Studio and Azure Machine Learning, Microsoft customers gain access to a diverse selection of state-of-the-art and open-source models. This opens up possibilities for creating and deploying custom AI applications and driving AI-driven innovations.
