Microsoft Adds Office Apps to Meta Quest Store

Microsoft has recently introduced its popular productivity apps, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, to the Meta Quest store. These apps can now be downloaded and used on Meta Quest VR headsets, such as Meta Quest 2, 3, and Pro.

To access the Office apps on Meta Quest VR headsets, users will need a Microsoft account. Once downloaded, the apps can be used for creating, editing, and viewing documents, spreadsheets, and presentations in a mixed reality setting.

Android Central has shared a video on YouTube demonstrating the Office apps in action on the Meta Quest headset. The video showcases how the apps can run side by side in the VR environment and can be controlled with virtual fingers or a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard.

Collaboration Between Microsoft and Meta Continues

This isn't the first collaboration between Microsoft and Meta. In October 2022, the two companies announced plans to bring Teams support, the Outlook email app, and other Microsoft features to Meta Quest headsets. The recent addition of the Office apps to the Meta Quest store indicates that more Microsoft apps and features may be coming to Meta's VR headsets in the future.

In addition to Meta Quest, Microsoft is also developing Office and Teams apps for Apple's upcoming Vision Pro mixed reality headset, expected to launch in early 2024.

Expanding Productivity on VR Headsets

The launch of Office apps on Meta Quest VR headsets showcases the expanding potential for productivity in the virtual reality space. Users can now create and edit documents, spreadsheets, and presentations in a VR environment, allowing for a more immersive and collaborative work experience.

With the addition of these productivity apps, VR headsets are becoming more versatile tools for both work and entertainment purposes. As the technology continues to advance, we can expect to see even more powerful productivity tools and features on VR platforms in the future.
