Monday qualifiers: Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches

The Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches offers the opportunity for players to earn spots in this week's event at PGA National (Champion) via a Monday qualifier.

Robert Garrigus

Robert Garrigus, a PGA TOUR veteran, earned medalist honors at the Monday qualifier for the Cognizant Classic. He shot a 7-under 65 in the qualifying round, making seven birdies without any bogeys. This will be his first PGA TOUR start of 2024, as he holds conditional status as a past champion. In the 2010 Children's Miracle Network Classic, Garrigus secured his best PGA TOUR finish with a win. He has made five cuts in nine prior starts at the Cognizant Classic.

Garrigus, age 46, hails from Nampa, Idaho, and attended Scottsdale Community College. He has accumulated 381 PGA TOUR starts and has made 214 cuts in his career.

Chris Crawford

Chris Crawford, age 29, qualified for the Cognizant Classic by shooting a 6-under 66 in the Monday qualifier. He made eight birdies and had two bogeys in his qualifying round. Crawford has competed in three previous PGA TOUR starts, but has yet to make a cut. His expertise lies in qualifying for U.S. Opens, as he has made it to three of them. The Cognizant Classic will mark his first non-major TOUR start. On the PGA TOUR Latinoamerica, Crawford has made 20 cuts in 27 starts, including a third-place finishes at the 2023 JHSF Aberto do Brasil.

Jeff Overton

Jeff Overton, a 40-year-old golfer from Evansville, Indiana, shot a 6-under 66 in the Monday qualifier to secure his spot at the Cognizant Classic. In the qualifying round, he made six birdies, an eagle, and had two bogeys. Overton has competed in 298 PGA TOUR starts, making 194 cuts. He has finished as a runner-up four times on the PGA TOUR. Overton has previously played in 11 editions of the Cognizant Classic, with his best finish being a T6 in 2011. His career was briefly interrupted due to a life-threatening infection he suffered during surgery for a herniated disk. After a six-year span with just one TOUR start, he returned to competition in the summer of 2022. Overton represented the U.S. Team at the 2010 Ryder Cup.
