Pit Road Mistakes Cost Tyler Reddick the Win

Tyler Reddick came in second place in NASCAR’s third race of the 2024 season at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He finished just 0.441 seconds behind race winner Kyle Larson. However, Reddick felt that costly mistakes made on pit road hindered his chances of securing the victory.

Reddick admitted that he could never quite catch up to Larson in the final laps of the Pennzoil 400. He attributed his difficulties to the performance of the pit stops. According to Reddick, Larson defended his position well whenever Reddick got close to overtaking him.

The NASCAR driver expressed his frustration, stating, 'We had a really good car, just stupid mistakes on pit road. Same s---, different year. It gets kind of frustrating. We’ll continue to work on it.' Reddick had multiple issues on pit road during the race, including a 13-second stop on Lap 211 and sliding too far in his pit box after the first stage.

Reddick's Fight to Recover and Finish Strong

Despite the setbacks on pit road, Reddick managed to fight his way back into contention. He started the day in second place but fell to 16th after the first stage due to his mistakes on pit road. However, he was able to stage a comeback and finished second in Stage 2.

Reflecting on the race, Reddick expressed disappointment with the overall result, stating, 'Second sucks, that’s for sure, but we had a really fast Nasty Beast Toyota Camry. We should have been up there battling even more than we were throughout the day; just put us behind, unfortunately. We had to fight back through that all day (and) as the field got better, it got harder to get back to the front as quick.'

Reddick acknowledged that in order to succeed in NASCAR, a driver must consistently perform at the front of the pack. He recognized that running up front throughout the entire race is crucial for success. Looking ahead, Reddick emphasized the need to improve and perform better in future races.

Reddick's Past Success and Upcoming Race

Tyler Reddick has had a successful career in NASCAR, with five Cup Series wins to his name. His most recent victory came at Kansas last season. Despite falling short in the Las Vegas race, Reddick remains determined to excel.

Next up on the Cup Series schedule is the race at Phoenix Raceway. Reddick had a strong showing in the spring race last season, finishing in third place. However, he faced more difficulties in the fall race, ending up in 22nd place. Reddick will be looking to bounce back and put his pit road mistakes behind him to secure a better result in the upcoming race.
