Zuckerberg's Review of Apple's Vision Pro

In a video posted on Instagram, Mark Zuckerberg reviewed Apple's recently launched Vision Pro headset. Having used both the Vision Pro and Meta's Quest headset, Zuckerberg concluded that the Quest is not only more affordable but also a better product overall. He praised the Quest for its brighter screen, wider field of vision, more immersive content, wireless design, and lighter weight. Zuckerberg also mentioned that the Quest is more comfortable to wear compared to the Vision Pro, thanks to its lighter weight. He did give credit to the Vision Pro for its eye tracking and higher resolution.

However, Zuckerberg also pointed out that the Vision Pro had to make trade-offs in terms of comfort and display quality to achieve its higher resolution. He expressed surprise at the assumption that the Vision Pro would be of higher quality due to its higher price tag and the Apple brand. Overall, Zuckerberg believed that the Quest is superior in terms of value and performance for most users.

Zuckerberg's Take on Meta vs. Apple

Mark Zuckerberg took the opportunity to discuss the competition between Meta and Apple. He stated that while Apple's closed model may have won in the mobile industry, Meta's open model is poised to succeed in the mixed reality headset race. Zuckerberg expressed his desire to support the open model and ensure its victory. He emphasized that the future is not yet determined and there is a chance for Meta to become the leader in this next generation of computing.

Challenging Apple Fanboys

In his review, Zuckerberg also addressed Apple's devoted fan base, often referred to as "fanboys." He acknowledged that questioning Apple's leadership in a new category can upset some fanboys but emphasized that every generation of computing has both open and closed models. He urged people to consider the open model, which Meta represents, as the winner in this upcoming generation. Zuckerberg concluded by stating that the future is still unwritten, suggesting that Meta has a strong chance of succeeding against Apple.
