Novak Djokovic Tells Drumming Fans to 'Shut Up' After Davis Cup Victory
Novak Djokovic expressed his frustration with fans trying to annoy him during his Davis Cup match.
Djokovic Shuts Down Drumming Fans
Novak Djokovic told a group of drumming fans to 'shut up' as they tried to drown out his post-match interview after Serbia's Davis Cup quarterfinal win on Thursday.
The world No. 1 had just defeated Cameron Norrie in straight sets to secure Serbia's 2-0 victory. However, Djokovic was angered by fans who continued to drum while he answered on-court questions.
Pointing into the crowd, Djokovic said, 'Learn how to respect players, learn how to behave yourself. No, you shut up, you be quiet.'
Djokovic's Season of Success
Novak Djokovic is aiming to conclude his remarkable season, where he won three out of the four grand slams, with a Davis Cup title to lead his country to its first in 13 years.
The 36-year-old also won a record seventh title at the ATP Finals earlier this month. His incredible performance on the court has solidified his position as the world's best tennis player.
Next, Serbia will face Italy in the semifinals of the Davis Cup on Saturday, as Djokovic continues his pursuit of another significant victory.
Djokovic's Frustration and Fatigue
Despite his dominant performance, Djokovic admitted to feeling tired after a demanding year on tour. In addition, he expressed his frustration with fans attempting to annoy him during the match.
The 24-time grand slam champion acknowledged that fans sometimes cross the line, and in the heat of the moment, he reacted to their behavior. However, Djokovic remained determined to respond to such actions.
While GB's Davis Cup captain, Leon Smith, emphasized the absence of animosity between the two teams, Djokovic found the noisy crowds to be a challenging aspect of Davis Cup fixtures.
