Incorporating Miami Vibes

Olivier Rousteing, creative director of Balmain, recently visited Miami for the first time in over 10 years.

The "endless summer" atmosphere of the city captivated him and became the main inspiration for Balmain's pre-fall 2024 collection.

Rousteing follows in the footsteps of founder Pierre Balmain, who incorporated tropical motifs into his couture collections in the 1950s.

A Joyful and Colorful Collection

Rousteing aimed to bring joy and color into the fashion industry with this collection.

Featuring couture-calibre silhouettes and glittering palm-tree embellishments, the collection appeals to Balmain's loyal customers as well as a broader fashion audience.

Balmain's iconic house elements, such as Breton stripes, tweeds, and strong-shouldered tailoring, were also present in the collection.

Miami-Inspired Designs

The collection showcased bicolor cardigan jackets and tuxedo jackets with squared-off shoulders adorned with thousands of gleaming sequins.

Miami's famous Art Deco architecture influenced the vivid colorblocking and patterns on varsity jackets.

Graphic black and white elements, including stripes and harlequin patterns, added a crisp touch to the sunny collection.

Tweed for Men and Flamingo Dresses

Rousteing is advocating for men to embrace tweed and incorporated the textured material into various jackets and coats.

Densely beaded flamingo dresses added a touch of lighthearted artistry and craftsmanship to the collection.

These dresses would surely turn heads and fit right in at Art Basel Miami Beach.
