Panasonic has transferred all shares of Shiftall, the Japan-based VR hardware creator, to CREEK & RIVER Co., Ltd. The Tokyo-based company specializes in outsourcing, consulting, content management, and distribution services. Shiftall was originally acquired by Panasonic in 2018 and has since shifted its focus to VR hardware.

Shiftall's products include the MeganeX PC VR headset, HaritoraX wireless body trackers, FlipVR motion controllers, and mutalk soundproof microphones. The company recently announced the upcoming release of the MeganeX superlight, along with the next generations of HaritoraX and mutalk.

According to a press statement, there will be no immediate changes to Shiftall's current offerings, product warranties, and customer support. The MeganeX superlight is expected to be released as scheduled in 2024, with a reduced weight of around 200g.

Competition in the VR Hardware Market

The MeganeX superlight, with its reduced weight and similar display specs as the original MeganeX, is expected to compete with products like the $1,000 Bigscreen Beyond. The VR hardware market is becoming increasingly competitive, with companies vying for consumers' attention and investment.

Panasonic's decision to sell off Shiftall may indicate a shift in focus for the company, as it divests from VR hardware. It will be interesting to see how CREEK & RIVER takes the brand forward and what new developments they bring to the VR market.

Support and Future Plans

Despite the ownership transfer, Shiftall's customers can expect continued support for its products and services. The company remains committed to fulfilling product warranties and providing customer assistance.

With the upcoming release of the MeganeX superlight and its next-generation devices, Shiftall aims to make an impact in the VR industry. As the market continues to evolve, it will be crucial for Shiftall to stay innovative and adapt to changing consumer demands.
