The attack occurred at approximately 10 a.m. local time today, 200 nautical miles from the coast of India.
The tanker, named CHEM PLUTO, is Liberia-flagged, Japanese-owned, and Netherlands-operated.

This incident highlights the escalating tensions in the region following the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7.
The Iranian government, along with its allied militant forces in Yemen, has publicly criticized the Israeli government's military operation in Gaza.
The Pentagon statement reveals that this is the seventh Iranian attack on commercial shipping since 2021.

Fortunately, there were no casualties resulting from the attack on the chemical tanker.
A brief fire on board the tanker was quickly extinguished.
