Player Safety Hearing for Perron's Actions

David Perron, forward for the Detroit Red Wings, will be having an in-person hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety. The date for the hearing is yet to be determined. Perron is facing disciplinary action for his cross-checking incident against Ottawa Senators defenseman Artem Zub.

The incident took place during the first period of the Red Wings' game, which ended in a 5-1 loss for Detroit. At 13:50 of the first period, Perron cross-checked Zub and received a match penalty for intent to injure. The Department of Player Safety is now considering supplemental discipline for Perron's actions.

While the grounds for discipline are currently focused on the cross-checking infraction, the Department of Player Safety has the authority to make adjustments to the punishment after conducting a thorough review of the incident.
