Reunion Show at Mohawk Club in Austin

The surviving members of Power Trip, the acclaimed metal band, surprised fans with their first live gig since the tragic passing of singer Riley Gale in 2020. The show took place at the Mohawk club in Austin, Texas on Friday night, December 1st.

The concert was initially advertised as a headlining performance by Fugitive, a band featuring Power Trip guitarist Blake Ibanez and Scourge vocalist Seth Gilmore. However, after Fugitive finished their set, Ibanez and Gilmore were joined onstage by Nick Stewart, Chris Whetzel, and Chris Ulsh from Power Trip. Together, they performed a mini-set consisting of five Power Trip songs.

Powerful Surprise for Fans

The surprise appearance of the surviving Power Trip members during the show was a welcome surprise for the attendees. Footage from the gig shows fans going absolutely wild during the mini-set, demonstrating the enduring love and support for the band and their music.

Riley Gale, the lead vocalist of Power Trip, tragically passed away in August 2020 at the age of 34. At the time, Power Trip was highly acclaimed for their modern take on thrash metal, earning them a dedicated fanbase.

Uncertain Future for Power Trip

In a March 2021 interview, Blake Ibanez, the guitarist of Power Trip, expressed the band's desire to continue making music together. However, he also acknowledged that they were unsure of what that would look like.

It is currently unclear whether the one-off gig will lead to more shows with Seth Gilmore as the vocalist or if the band will officially reunite under the name Power Trip. Fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for this influential metal band.
