Raducanu Pulls Out of Kooyong Classic

Emma Raducanu has announced that she will no longer participate in the Kooyong Classic exhibition match on Thursday.

The former US Open champion was initially set to play against 16-year-old Mirra Andreeva in the Melbourne suburbs. However, her name is not listed in Thursday's schedule of play.

This decision comes after Raducanu withdrew from a charity match earlier in the week. Reports indicate that she was experiencing soreness after practice on Monday.

Continuing Preparation for the Australian Open

Despite the recent setbacks, Raducanu is determined to continue her preparation for the upcoming Australian Open.

This tournament will only be her second since undergoing wrist and ankle surgery, which significantly impacted her 2023 season.

Although currently ranked No. 299, Raducanu is allowed to use a protected ranking for the first grand slam of the year.

Injury Challenges Since Breakthrough Win

Following her remarkable breakthrough win in 2021, Raducanu has been plagued with a series of injury problems.

During last week's match against Elina Svitolina in Auckland, she had strapping on her right leg, indicating potential ongoing issues.

Despite this, the 21-year-old British player has been training at Melbourne Park in preparation for the Australian Open, where she has secured a spot in the main draw.
