In a thrilling match at Madison Square Garden, the New York Rangers displayed their dominance by defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1. This win marks a historic moment for the Rangers, as they become the first team in the NHL to reach 40 wins this season.

Leading the charge for the Rangers was Artemi Panarin, who had an outstanding performance with two goals and an assist. Panarin's contribution brought his total points for the season to an impressive 82. This is the fourth time in five seasons with the Rangers that Panarin has achieved at least 80 points.

Additionally, the Rangers showcased their defensive strength with Igor Shesterkin's exceptional goaltending. Shesterkin made an impressive 30 saves, allowing only one goal to the Blue Jackets. Shesterkin's stellar performance extends his streak of allowing just one goal in the last four consecutive starts.

Adam Fox extended the Rangers' lead with a power-play goal at 14:19 of the second period. Chris Kreider's impressive defensive play allowed Fox to score from between the circles, securing a two-goal advantage for the Rangers.

Although the Blue Jackets managed to score one goal in the third period, courtesy of Cole Sillinger, the Rangers maintained control of the game. Kreider sealed the victory with an empty-net goal at 19:07, followed by Panarin's second goal with just 12 seconds remaining in the game.
