Shiba Inu developers are teaming up with D3, an internet domain player, to bring a “.shib” internet and top-level domain to the market. The goal is to support identity-focused projects and expand the reach of the SHIB ecosystem to over 5 billion internet users.
Through their partnership, Shiba Inu aims to apply for the .shib top-level domain through ICANN, a global database for internet domains. If approved, Shiba Inu would become one of the first Web3 networks with its own DNS namespace, allowing for greater integration of digital identities within its decentralized ecosystem.
By introducing real domains to SHIB, the team hopes to enhance digital identity verification for all products built on the Shiba Inu blockchain and Shibarium, a layer 2 network.
