Stricker and Fellow Next Gen ATP Finals Players Practice in Jeddah
Dominic Stricker and other Next Gen ATP Finals participants hit the court for their first practice sessions in Jeddah.
Stricker Impressed by King Abdullah Sports City
Dominic Stricker, who has previously competed at the Next Gen ATP Finals, expressed his admiration for the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah during his first visit. Stricker, a left-handed player from Switzerland, had his first practice session in Jeddah and hit with fellow competitor Arthur Fils. He described the arena as great and the event as well-organized. Stricker is looking forward to his second campaign at the Next Gen ATP Finals.
"It’s a great arena. It felt really good from the beginning onwards,” Stricker said. “I was at this event last year, so it’s great to come back. It’s a super event, everything is organized well. I arrived pretty late yesterday but had a great practice with Arthur."
Van Assche and Shelbayh Also Practice in Jeddah
Following Stricker and Fils, Luca Van Assche and Abdullah Shelbayh also had their first practice sessions in Jeddah. Van Assche, a Frenchman currently ranked No. 66, had a good practice in the stadium and expressed his comfort and gratitude for the experience. Shelbayh, a wild card entry and the first Jordanian to win an ATP Tour match, also had his first practice in Jeddah after making history earlier in the year.
"It was a very good practice in an amazing stadium,” Van Assche said. “I arrived late last night but I already feel comfortable here. Everybody has been very kind with us, and it’s an amazing experience for me to be here."
Cobolli Practices with Michelsen in Jeddah
Flavio Cobolli, ranked No. 95, took to the stadium court in Jeddah for his first practice session with fellow event debutant Alex Michelsen. Cobolli has had a successful season, winning a Challenger title in Lisbon and reaching the finals in two other tournaments. He also reached his first ATP Tour quarter-final earlier in the year in Munich.
