Recall Spreads to Canada

Tesla's recent recall of over two million vehicles in the United States has now extended to Canada, impacting 193,000 cars in the country to the North. The recall was initiated due to an issue with Autosteer, a feature of Tesla's Autopilot suite.

Yesterday, the NHTSA and Tesla responded to the recall, which affected Model S, Model X, Model 3, and Model Y vehicles dating back to 2012. The NHTSA's Safety Recall Report revealed that Tesla's default safety checks in the driver-assist system may not have been sufficient, potentially leading drivers to not pay enough attention to the road.

To address the problem, Tesla rolled out an Over-the-Air Software Update, which would be downloaded to the affected vehicles to fix the issue promptly.

Recall in Canada to be Resolved with Over-the-Air Update

Transport Canada has announced that approximately 193,000 vehicles will be recalled in Canada. However, the issue will be resolved through an Over-the-Air update without requiring physical servicing of the vehicles. According to The Canadian Press, this update will ensure that the affected vehicles receive the necessary fixes.

By utilizing Over-the-Air Software Updates, Tesla aims to provide a convenient and efficient solution for customers. The update will address the Autosteer issue and improve the safety checks of the driver-assist system, ultimately enhancing overall road safety.
