Tragedy Strikes

Cayley Mandadi, a 19-year-old Trinity University student, was brought to a Texas hospital in a nearly unconscious and bruised state. Her sometime boyfriend, Mark Howerton, claimed that they had taken ecstasy and she passed out after consensual sex in his car. Unfortunately, Mandadi did not survive.

However, Mandadi's mother, Alison Steele, and stepfather, Lawrence Baitland, were convinced that there was more to the story. They believed that something sinister had occurred and were determined to find the truth.

Taking Matters Into Their Own Hands

Steele and Baitland embarked on a quest for justice. They gathered a team of experts, including medical doctors and forensic scientists, to reexamine the evidence in Mandadi's case. Through their tireless efforts, they were able to make sense of the evidence in a way that had not been done in the initial trial.

One crucial piece of evidence was an autopsy photo showing a bruise above Mandadi's ear. Steele and Baitland theorized that this injury occurred when Howerton struck Mandadi's head against the car window. To further support their theory, they even purchased a car similar to the one Howerton drove that night.

Building Their Case

Using the evidence and research they had gathered, Baitland created a 3D model of Mandadi's head, incorporating the autopsy photo. This model helped them visualize and demonstrate how the fatal injury could have occurred.

Additionally, they commissioned a reenactment video, meticulously recreating the events that they believed took place in the car. Every detail, from the clothing worn by Mandadi and Howerton to the items in the backseat, was carefully considered and portrayed by actors similar in size to the couple.
