Rahm's Move to LIV Golf

Jon Rahm switched from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf in December for a deal worth between $300 million to $600 million. Many considered this move a turning point, as Rahm did not face the same level of backlash as others who joined LIV. In fact, he gained support from Rory McIlroy, who had previously criticized the rebel golf league.

Despite this, Tiger Woods has not reached out to Rahm since his decision. When asked about it, Rahm revealed that while he had spoken with McIlroy, he had not heard from Woods.

Woods has been vocal in his opposition to LIV Golf in the past and reportedly turned down offers from the league. When asked about Rahm's move, Woods stated that they had assumed past rumors of players joining LIV were just speculation until it actually happened.

Support from McIlroy

Since Jon Rahm's move to LIV Golf, Rory McIlroy has shown public support for his decision, including advocating for LIV golfers to participate in the Ryder Cup. Rahm confirmed that McIlroy had been supportive both publicly and privately.

In an interview with ESPN, Rahm discussed his reasons for leaving the PGA Tour. He admitted that money played a role in his decision, as LIV Golf offered a significant change in compensation for golfers. Rahm also noted that the LIV schedule, with 12 tournaments planned for the year, was less demanding compared to the PGA Tour.

However, Rahm had previously expressed concerns about LIV's three-day, no-cut tournaments and how they might not align with his competitive nature. Despite these reservations, Rahm has performed well in his two LIV tournaments so far, finishing third and eighth.

Future Meetings

Both Jon Rahm and Tiger Woods are expected to compete in The Masters in April. However, it seems that Woods and Rahm's relationship may have been strained by Rahm's move to LIV Golf. Rahm mentioned that he had reached out to Woods to inform him about the decision but did not receive a response.

It remains to be seen whether the two will reconcile and communicate in the future. As of now, Rahm has been focused on his performance in LIV Golf, while Woods continues to pursue his goal of playing in a tournament each month.
