Toyota Land Cruiser

The Toyota Land Cruiser is making a comeback in the US market after a three-year hiatus, but with a twist. This time, it's coming back as a smaller retro-styled SUV, directly competing against the Jeep Wrangler and the revived Ford Bronco.

In line with the industry trend towards SUVs and trucks with serious off-road capabilities, the new Land Cruiser will only be available as a hybrid. It will combine a gas engine with an electric motor to produce up to 326 horsepower. The starting price for this hybrid SUV is expected to be around $55,000.

With its classic looks and hybrid powertrain, the Toyota Land Cruiser aims to capture the attention of SUV enthusiasts who are looking for both style and eco-friendly performance.

Affordable Electric Options

The year ahead will bring some exciting additions to the electric vehicle market, catering to both budget-conscious buyers and luxury enthusiasts.

Chevrolet is set to release the Equinox EV, which is expected to start at around $30,000, making it one of the most affordable electric vehicles available. It will offer a stripped-down version with a 250-mile driving range on a full charge, while higher-end models with all-wheel-drive and longer range will also be offered.

Volvo will introduce the EX30, its least expensive model to date, at a base price of $35,000. This compact electric SUV will provide up to an estimated 275 miles of range, offering an affordable option for eco-conscious consumers.

Luxury and Performance

For those seeking luxury and high-performance, two notable options are on the horizon.

Cadillac is set to release the Celestiq, an individually hand-built electric vehicle with a starting price of around $300,000. This highly customizable car aims to recapture Cadillac's legacy of opulence and style, allowing customers to personalize their vehicle with a wide range of colors and options.

Ferrari is entering the SUV market with the Purosangue, a vehicle that combines the (relatively) high seating position of an SUV with Ferrari's signature performance. With a 715-horsepower V12 engine and a price starting at approximately $400,000, the Purosangue embodies luxury and power.

Upcoming Electric Offerings

Two notable electric vehicles to look out for are the Volkswagen ID. Buzz and the Honda Prologue.

Volkswagen will introduce a larger version of the ID. Buzz in the US market, offering a modern fully-electric take on the iconic VW Microbus. This spacious vehicle can accommodate up to seven passengers and features all-wheel drive. With its retro design and electric powertrain, the ID. Buzz brings together nostalgia and sustainability.

Honda's Prologue represents the brand's first mainstream EV model. Built using GM's Ultium EV technology, the Prologue aims to stand out in the crowded mid-size SUV segment. Although pricing details have not been announced, it is expected to start around $50,000 and will benefit from the strong reputation and brand recognition of Honda.
