Williams Grateful for Support

Wendy Williams is expressing her gratitude for the outpouring of support she has received since sharing her diagnosis of Aphasia and Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). In a statement released through her care team, Williams expressed how touched she was by the kind words and messages she received. She emphasized the power of unity and compassion.

This statement comes shortly after Williams' team revealed her diagnosis of primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. It also follows a court ruling that rejected an attempt to block the airing of the Lifetime documentary 'Where is Wendy Williams?'

Williams thanked the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration for their support and efforts to educate the public about the disease. She also emphasized the importance of personal space and peace for her well-being.

Lifetime Documentary to Proceed

Despite the legal battle, Lifetime's documentary about Wendy Williams will air as scheduled this weekend. An appellate judge ruled that blocking the documentary would violate the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The documentary, titled 'Where is Wendy Williams?' includes interviews and footage of the former talk show host.

The ruling has cleared the way for the two-night broadcast plan. Williams' spokesperson did not comment immediately, but Lifetime issued a statement confirming that the documentary will proceed as planned.

Understanding Frontotemporal Dementia

Frontotemporal dementia is a rare disease that affects parts of the brain responsible for behavior and language. As the disease progresses, these brain regions shrink. One common symptom is primary progressive aphasia, which causes difficulties with language skills. People with this form of FTD may struggle to find words or comprehend speech.

Wendy Williams' self-titled talk show ended in 2022 due to her health issues. In addition to her recent dementia diagnosis, she had previously disclosed her diagnosis of Graves' disease. Her care team announced that the dementia diagnosis occurred in 2023. Williams credited the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration for their support in raising awareness about the disease.
