Introducing the Xreal Air 2 Ultra

Xreal has recently revealed its latest pair of AR glasses, known as the Xreal Air 2 Ultra. These glasses not only provide augmented reality experiences, but also come with spatial computing capabilities. This means users can easily control interfaces simply by using hand gestures.

Building upon the Xreal Air 2 smart glasses, this new product incorporates tracking and 3D sensing technology without the additional bulk and weight of previous solutions.

Advanced Features for a Comfortable Experience

Weighing less than 3 ounces (80 grams), the Air 2 Ultra is designed to be comfortable for extended periods of use. While the glasses have a stylish look, it's important to note that they are slightly thicker than regular glasses. They are equipped with two sensors at the outer corners of the frame and wider earpieces to accommodate the necessary hardware for advanced processing.

With the Air 2 Ultra, Xreal introduces hardware that enables depth sensing, 3D environment mapping, hand-tracking, and six degrees of freedom (6DoF). This allows users to place virtual objects in a room, on surfaces, and walls, and interact with them as they move their head and walk around.

Versatility and Compatibility

In addition to the augmented reality capabilities, the Xreal Air 2 Ultra also supports traditional two-dimensional screens. Users can enjoy watching videos, creating virtual monitors for work, and playing games on a larger virtual screen using just the glasses, a cable, and a phone.

The glasses have a 52-degree field of view, which is higher than most smart glasses, and a display density of 42 pixels per degree, providing sharpness in the central vision. The 500-nit brightness and 120Hz refresh rate ensure excellent performance.

The Xreal Air 2 Ultra is available for preorder at $699 and is expected to ship by March 2024. It is important to note that these glasses are currently a developer's kit but can be ordered by consumers as well. Compatibility is limited to compatible phones or computers.
