The final season of Young Sheldon began with a bang, attracting the show's largest audience in several years. CBS continues to have a strong premiere week with several of its shows experiencing improved viewer numbers compared to their fall premieres.
Young Sheldon Season Premiere Breaks Records
The season premiere of Young Sheldon drew 7.99 million viewers, marking the show's largest same-day audience since April 2020. This is a significant accomplishment, given that the show has been on the air for almost four years. Additionally, it is currently the most-watched primetime show of the week.
In the key ad-sales demographic of adults 18-49, Young Sheldon achieved a rating of 0.63, its best since March of last year. This demonstrates the continued popularity and appeal of the show to a wide range of viewers.
Ghosts Also Sees Record-Breaking Premiere
Ghosts, another CBS comedy, experienced its best first-night audience ever. The show attracted 7.05 million viewers for its third season premiere, surpassing its previous records. Among adults aged 18-49, it achieved a rating of 0.67, which is the second highest in the show's history.
Following the success of Young Sheldon and Ghosts, the second season of So Help Me Todd premiered to 4.91 million viewers, a slight increase from its series premiere in fall 202. Reruns of the Tracker premiere also performed well, attracting 3.51 million viewers at 10 p.m.
CBS Dominates Premiere Week Ratings
The premiere week has been a major success for CBS, with four shows attracting over 7 million viewers each. In addition to Young Sheldon and Ghosts, FBI and NCIS also broke the 7 million mark. With NBC's Chicago and Law & Order franchises on hiatus, CBS currently holds the top 11 primetime audiences of the week.
It's worth noting that Young Sheldon has been one of the most popular streaming shows in recent months since its addition to Netflix in November. This could have contributed to the show's strong premiere ratings.
