Zachary Levi implies that being cast in James Gunn's DC Universe is about connections within the industry. During an interview, Levi expressed disbelief at the idea of other DCEU actors, such as Jason Momoa, joining the new DC Universe in new roles. He also mentioned that James Gunn's brother, Sean Gunn, who has previously played Marvel characters, has been cast as Maxwell Lord in the new DCU.

Zachary Levi's Uncertainty About Other DCEU Actors

Shazam! actor Zachary Levi openly discussed the inclusion of familiar DCEU stars in James Gunn's DC Universe. When asked if he would want to be cast in a new role, Levi initially seemed confused but eventually shared his thoughts on the matter. He questioned whether Jason Momoa would end up playing Lobo, a character who has been rumored for him, but expressed uncertainty about the outcome.

Levi also mentioned that Sean Gunn, being the brother of James Gunn, has the privilege of playing whoever he wants in the DC Universe. While Sean Gunn has previously portrayed Marvel characters, he will be taking on his first role in the DC Universe as Maxwell Lord.

Returning DCEU Actors in James Gunn's DC Universe

Various DCEU actors will be returning to the new DC Universe in both familiar and new roles. Viola Davis is set to reprise her role as Amanda Waller in the spinoff show Waller. Additionally, John Cena will continue to play Peacemaker in a second season. Freddie Stroma's Vigilante and Steve Agee's John Economos will also make appearances in the DC Universe.

Other returning actors include Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt and Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes, aka Blue Beetle, whose solo movie will be loosely connected. Sean Gunn, aside from reprising his role as Weasel in Creature Commandos, will also voice G.I. Robot and play Maxwell Lord in animation and live-action. Nathan Fillion, who previously portrayed T.D.K., will take on the role of Guy Gardner, aka Green Lantern, in Superman: Legacy.

While it is speculated that Jason Momoa may play Lobo in the new DC Universe, this has not been confirmed. The potential return of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn is also uncertain at this time. James Gunn's focus for casting in the new DC Universe seems to be on tapping new talent, but it remains to be seen if other DCEU actors will be involved in the future.
