Zegras' Injury and Recovery

Trevor Zegras, a key forward for the Anaheim Ducks, will be sidelined for the next 6-8 weeks. The team confirmed that Zegras suffered a broken ankle during a game against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday. The injury occurred when Zegras slid into the side boards after getting caught in his skates by the stick of Juuso Parssinen, a forward for the Predators.

This comes as a blow to the Ducks, as Zegras has been a significant contributor to the team's offense. Despite missing 20 games earlier this season due to a lower-body injury, Zegras led Anaheim in goals (23), assists (42), and points (65) last season. He will undergo surgery in the coming days to address the broken ankle.

Ducks coach Greg Cronin acknowledged the impact of injuries in hockey but emphasized the need to adapt and find ways to generate offense with the existing roster. Cronin expressed confidence in the team's ability to overcome these challenges and remain competitive.

Mintyukov's Shoulder Injury

In addition to Trevor Zegras, Anaheim Ducks defenseman Pavel Mintyukov has also suffered an injury. Mintyukov separated his shoulder during the same game against the Nashville Predators. The incident happened when he was hit into the boards by Predators forward Michael McCarron.

The 2022 NHL Draft's 10th overall pick, Mintyukov has been impressive as a rookie defenseman. He currently ranks third among all rookie defensemen in points, with 19 (two goals and 17 assists). This injury will keep Mintyukov out of action for the next six weeks, affecting the team's defensive strength.

The absence of Zegras and Mintyukov presents a challenge for the Ducks, as both players are important assets for the team's present and future. Forward Frank Vatrano acknowledged the impact of these injuries but emphasized the need for the remaining players to step up and fulfill their roles.

Team's Response and Outlook

The Anaheim Ducks have experienced numerous injuries throughout the season, leading to a compromised roster. Despite the setbacks, the team remains determined to persevere and achieve success. Ducks forward Frank Vatrano acknowledged the challenges but stressed the importance of players fulfilling their responsibilities.

Goaltender John Gibson also faced injury issues during the same game, leaving the match after the second period with an upper-body injury. As of now, there is no update on his condition. The team will need to navigate through these challenges and find ways to win with the available resources.

The Ducks are currently placed seventh in the Pacific Division, and securing victories with the limited roster will be crucial for their progression. The team remains optimistic and determined to overcome these obstacles.
