David Tennant and Michael Sheen's Opening Monologue

David Tennant, the host of the 2024 EE BAFTA Film Awards, started off the ceremony with a little help from his former costar Michael Sheen. The duo recreated their comedic chemistry from the TV series 'Staged' in a hilarious video call for the opening monologue.

During the call, Sheen reminded Tennant of his promise to dog sit the actor's new puppy, Bark Ruffalo, named after Mark Ruffalo. Tennant tried to decline the offer, but Sheen insisted, mentioning that the dog had peed in their neighbor's kitchen. After failed attempts to pawn the dog off to other celebrities, Tennant arrived at the ceremony with Bark Ruffalo dressed as a mailman.

The Pet-Sitting Bit

As Tennant entered the Royal Festival Hall with Bark Ruffalo, he encountered Sheen in the front row. Tennant jokingly accused Sheen of wanting him to dog sit so that he could have a good seat in the audience. Sheen objected initially but ultimately accepted the responsibility of taking care of the dog.

The pet-sitting bit continued when actor Andy Serkis presented the evening's first award and joked about taking on the role of the dog. It added a playful touch to the award show and entertained the audience.
